Abstract:

Chromenes belong to a group of heterocyclic compounds that feature a benzopyran ring system with an oxygen atom substitution. These compounds have been found to possess various pharmacological properties, such as anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and antidiabetic effects. In this study, a novel heterogeneous nanocatalyst, aluminium nitride, was synthesized and characterized using XRD, UV–Vis, FT-IR, SEM, and TEM techniques. The prepared nanocatalyst was then utilized for the synthesis of chromeno[4, 3-b]chromenes under aerobic conditions. Additionally, the potential of aluminium nitride (ALN) nanocage for delivering the important antidiabetic drug, flutamide, was investigated using density functional theory calculations. The results showed that the highest interaction occurred when flutamide approached the Al atom of the fullerene surface from the carbonyl group, as evidenced by the calculated adsorption energies (Eads) of the flutamide onto pristine aluminium nitride.
