The scales in sugar-beet juice heaters

Abstract: There is less scale formation in the progressive liming (Dedek and V., C.A. 26, 3951) than if all milk of lime is added at one time and none is formed if a juice with natural acidity is heated. To prevent scaling, an addn. approx. 15% unfiltered first carbonated juice, followed by progressive liming, is recommended.
