Abstract: It was proved that the waves of metals (I) in citrate buffer at pH 6.3 are decreased by protein (II) to zero (Au, Ag, Hg, and Bi) or limit (Cu, Cd, and Pb) values by the formation of complexes and by the adsorption of II on the surface of the drop electrode. The effect of the adsorption is readily noticeable on 'the saddle' decreases of Cu limit current. Under these conditions the polarographic method is not suitable for quant. detn. of the interaction of I and II. It is evident from the increase of waves of complex metals with dimercaptopropanol (III) that the stoichiometric amt. of III is sufficient to liberate I bound on II. Even here the adsorption activity of II is noticeable and the waves of complexes in the presence of II are lower and finally diminish. The bond between I and III is much firmer than the bond between I and II.
