Physical-chemical study and polarographic behavior of l-phenylacetylcarbinol and methylbenzoylcarbinol. I

Abstract: The polarographic behavior of l-phenylacetylcarbinol and methylbenzoylcarbinol is described. The effect of various cations on half-wave potentials of I was detd. The shift Ε1/2 of I to the pos. values is dependent on the type of cation and its concn., and it increases in this order: Na⁺ < K⁺ < Li⁺ < Ca²⁺ < CH₃NH₃⁺ < NH₄⁺. Both of the compds. studied are subjected on the drop electrode to double-electron irreversible reduction.
