The effect of the symmetry of esters of trans-9-octadecenoic (elaidic) acid on the height of the infrared absorption band at 970 cm-1

Abstract: The effect of the length of the chain of the alc. used for the esterification on the height of the infrared absorption band at 970 cm-1 is described for the esters of I. Extinction coeffs. were measured in CS2 solvent. Disturbing the symmetry of the mol. affects the height of the absorption band at 970 cm-1 The esters were evaluated by paper chromatography with Rf detns.
