Spectrophotometric determination of chlorophyll a and chlorophyll b in a mixture

Abstract: A modified method of the less-known Comar-Zscheil (Official Methods of Analysis A.O.A.C., 7th ed., 1950, p. 112 (CA 45, 2824e)) is described. The greatest difference of absorption coeffs. are at wavelengths of 660 mμ and 642.5 mμ at which the total and chlorophyll a and b components can be detd. This method was tested on the leaves of Syringa vulgaris and on wheat and sugar beet plants.
