Chromatographic separation of radiochemically pure 90Y from the parent isotope 90Sr

Abstract: The effectiveness of the chromatographic method of ion exchange for a periodic sepn. of radiochem. pure 90Y from the parent isotope 90Sr by the application of the ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid (I) as a chelating agent is described. The sepn. factor in 10-2M solns. of I at pH 4.0-4.5 had a value 103-104. The conditions for the sepn. of Y from Sr were: column Dowex 50-X2 in the NH4 form (200-230 mesh, column 30 cm. × 0.44 cm2), elution with 10-2M I at pH 5.11.
