Aminolysis of sucrose. VI. Reaction between sucrose and aqueous β-aminopropionitrile solution at increased temperatures

Abstract: cf. CA 63, 665f. Reaction of sucrose with aq. β-aminopropionitrile soln. at higher temps. gave a mixt. of compds.: 2-methylpyrazine (b751 132-4°, n20D 1.5056; picrate m. 132-3°) 2,5-dimethylpyrazine (b751 152-4°, n20D 1.5040; picrate 155-6°), 2-methyl-1,4(?)-dihydropyrazine (b10 45-8°, n20D 1.5000, d20 1.0042; picrate m. 172°), 4(5)-methylimidazole, and 2-methyl-4-(β-cyanoethyl)-1,4-dihydropyrazine, b0.01 103-5°, n20D 1.5016. At the same time with the formation of these compds. there is a dismutation of β-aminopropionitrile with the formation of bis(2-cyanoethyl)-amine. The reaction mechanism is given.
