Chromatographic separation and determination of 51Cr, 54Mn, 60Co, and 59Fe

Abstract: A method for the sepn. and detn. of small amts. of radionuchdes 51Cr, 54Mn, 60Co, and 59Fe by the paper chromatography with Whatman No. 1 paper and acetone-7N HCl (90:10) as a solvent system was developed. The RF values of the carrier free radionuclides were: Cr 0.03, Mn 0.32, Co 0.69, and Fe 0.96. These values do not depend on the amt. of the present isotopic carrier in the range 0-40 γ. Quant. detns. were carried out with planimetric evaluation of the radiographic records. The detd. limitation factors of the method were: 51Cr 1.70, 54Mn 0.36, 60Co 0.12, and 59Fe 0.18 × 10-9 c. The method was suitable for the detn. of these radionuclides in biol. materials.
