Effect of radiation on the halogenating activity of halocopper(II) and haloiron(III) complexes

Abstract: The effect of light on the halogenating activity of halocopper(II) and haloiron(III) complexes in Me2CO and acrylonitrile (I) in relation to the oxidn.-redn. processes and to the mutual effect of ligands was studied. Properties of the following systems were studied: CuCl2-Me2CO, CuCl2-LiCl-Me2CO, CuCl2-I, CuBr2-I, CuCl2-LiCl-I, FeCl3-I, and FeCl3-LiCl-I. Light increases the halogenating activity in the same way as does the mutual effect of the ligands in the heterogeneous complexes in these systems.
