Drying of the reaction gas in the production of vinyl chloride

Abstract: The authors tested in laboratory and in large scale the removal of hydrochloric acid mist from the reaction mixture of wet acetylene and hydrogen chloride in a sound and ultra-sound field and by sedimentation, as well. The suitable wave frequency lies in the 8 — 30 kcps range, the medium field intensity was found to be at 0.1 W cm-2, the efficiency in one stage is 70 %. Economic comparison with three additional processes of dehydration favours the acoustic coagulation.
