Preparation of crystalline barium metavanadate and some of its physicochemical properties

Abstract: The white, crystalline barium metavanadate Ba(V03)2 . H2 0 was prepared. Its solubility product is P = 9.72 . 10^-14 g equiv./l. The specific gravity at 22 °C Q = 3660 kg m^-3 . Monohydrate of the barium metavanadate is orthorombic, space group P21212l, with a = 7.43 ± 0.01 Á, b = 9.06 ± 0.02 А, с = 9.70 ± 0.01 Á; α = ß = γ = 90°, Z = 4 and four formula units per unit cell.
