Magnetic behavior of trinickel(II) and tricobalt(II) dihydrogen tetraphosphites

Abstract: Magnetic susceptibilities of (NiHPO3)2.Ni(H2PO3)2.11H2O (I) and (CoHPO3)2.Co(H2PO3)2.11H2O (II) were detd. at 78, 201, 273, and 293°K., and the Weiss consts. were calcd. The magnetic moment of I is 3.27 Bohr magnetons (μB) and of II, 4.84 μB at room temp. It was detd. from the temp. dependence of the magnetic susceptibility that there is no ferromagnetism in the tested temp. interval. From the temp. dependence of the molar magnetic susceptibility, these Weiss consts. were calcd.: +6°K. for I and + 29°K. for II.
