 Dissociation of the AlF63- anion in the systems Li3AlF6— CaF2, Li3AlF6—SrF2, and Li3AlF6—BaF2

Abstract: K Grjotheim's (1956) generalized method was applied to the system Li3AlF6-MF2 (M = Ca, Sr, Ba) to calcn. the dissocn. of the  AlF63- anion. The dissocn. degree of AlF63- in pure molten Li3AlF6 is 0.30. Comparison of theor. and exptl. data indicates CaF2 ionizes to CaF+ and F-, whereas SrF2 and BaF2 dissoc. into Sr2+ and Ba2+, resp., and F-.
