Abstract: The definitions of the dimensionless concn. of the adsorbate in the gaseous as well as the solid phase were generalized so that the same system of partial differential equations in dimensionless form with unchanged initial and boundary conditions describes both the dynamics of adsorption and desorption on fully and nonfully covered sorbents. A general procedure for the derivation of the equil. curve equation in dimensionless coordinates is presented and the equations of equal curves corresponding to the linear Freundlich and Langmuir adsorption isotherm are deduced. The definitions of other dimensionless quantities necessary for the description of adsorption dynamics are generalized so that their form is convenient for an arbitrary math. model of the mass transfer rate.
