Reaction of ammonium salt of thioorotic acid with nickel(II) ions

Abstract:  The reaction of ammonium salt of thioorotic acid with nickel(II) ions is studied. The aim of the paper was not only to explain the reaction but also to point out the possibility of application of digital computers in analytical chemistry. I t was proved that two types of complexes are formed in the reaction: NiA and NiA2. By means of the graphical method there were obtained the estimates of their stability constants; the exact values of constants ki,i = 6.88 X 105 and ki,2 = 6.78 X 103 were obtained on an Odra 1003 digital computer. The method of the calculation of constants is quick and the programme is applicable to any system of this type.
