Absorption spectra of some dioxovanadium(V) ions in aqueous solutions

Abstract:  The electronic spectra of aqueous vanadium(V) solutions containing the aqua ions [VO2(H2O)x]+, the ions [VO2(C2O4)2]3-, and the metavanadate(V) ions V3O93- were studied at 20°C and at the ionic strength Ic = 1.0. All the studied spectra exhibited the same spectral transitions at 29 800 — 30 100, 35 900-36 200, 42 300-43 000, and 47 700-48 200 cm-1 . I n spite of the supposed change of the vanadium coordination, no substantial change in the character of the electronic spectra of the group VO2 has been observed.
