Study of the binary systems LiF—NaCl and LiF—KCl

Abstract: The phase diagrams of the binary systems LiF-NaCl and LiF-KCl were studied by thermal anal. The system LiF-NaCl is a simple eutectic system with real inflection points on both liquidus curves. The coordinates of the eutectic point are LiF 41.5, NaCl 58.5 mol%, tE = 686.5°C. The system LiF-KCl is also a simple eutectic system with a real inflection point on the LiF liquidus curve, the coordinates of the eutectic point being LiF 20.0, KCl 80.0 mol%, tE = 719°C. In both systems, the course of the liquidus curves was calcd. using different relations, and the values of activity coeffs. as well as the coordinates of the inflection points were detd. In both systems, there is a large deviation from ideal behavior.
