Abstract:  The self-diffusion coefficients of 22Na+ in NaNO3 and in the NaNO3—RbNO3, NaNO,—Sr(NO3)2 , and NaNO.— Ba(NO3)2 mixtures and those of 86Rb+ in RbNO, and in the NaNO3—RbNO3 mixture were determined by means of the capillary method ("inward" diffusion, quartz capillaries). The self-diffusion coefficients and the activation energies of Na+ in NaNO3 and Rb+ in RbNO3 agree within the experimental error with the values determined by other methods. The addition of rubidium nitrate or of alkaline earth metal nitrate to the pure sodium nitrate involves a decrease of the Na + self-diffusion coefficients in the series RbNO3 < Sr(NO3)2 < Ba(NO3)2 .
