Abstract: Buffers and stds. in aq. 50 wt.% MeOH were measured on the working pH* scale using various potentiometric bridged cells. The calibration of a std. cell vs. pH* stds. prepd. in the mixed solvent was compared with the calibration vs. pH std. in water. The values extd. from the working pH* scales were compared with pH* values obtained from the concn. acidity scale. The most accurate results of acidity measurements can be obtained from the working pH* scale of a cell, the ref. electrode of which is sepd. from the soln. under investigation by a salt bridge prepd. in the resp. solvent. The std. cell can be calibrated using a pH* std. in the same solvent.
