 Phase equilibria in the system MgFe2O4 —Mg2SiO4

Abstract: The system MgFe2O4-Mg2SiO4 was studied at 1550-1770°C in air. The phase diagram of the pseudobinary system was constructed showing that the initial melting occurs at 1665 ± 10°C. In addn. to forsterite and magnesioferrite, the presence of magnesiowuestite in the system was confirmed. The proportion of the latter phase increases with increasing temp.
