Determination of heats of formation of gadolinium phosphate (GdPO4) and gadolinium phosphate dihydrate (GdPO4∙2H2O) hexagonal modifications

Abstract: Three samples of hexagonal modification of GdPO4 hydrates were prepd.: GDPO4 ∙ 0.81H2O, GdPO4∙ 1.05H2O, and GdPO4∙1.41H2O. The heats of formation  ∆Hm,f,GdPO4hex and ∆Hm,f,GdP04.2H20hex were calcd. on the basis of Hess' law by using the following data: heats of dissoln. of GdPO4∙xH2O, Gd2O3, NH4H2PO4, NH4NO3, and H2O (this paper), heat of dissoln. of HNO3 and heat of formation of reactants and products.
