Abstract: The activity of CaSiO3 in CaO-FeO-SiO2 and CaO-Fe2O3-SiO2 melts was calcd. by using the approach similar to that used by R. Haase (1971). From the activity values, liquidus surfaces of CaSiO3 were obtained by the Le Chatelier-Shreder equation. A structural analogy of the cryst. phase and the melt was assumed in the calcn. Good agreement of the calcd. phase diagrams with the exptl. ones was achieved when half of the Fe3+ present in the melt was tetrahedrally coordinated while the other half behaved as a network modifier. Tetrahedral coordination of a little part of the Fe2+ in the CaO-FeO-SiO2 system cannot be excluded.
