Possibilities of using some correlation relations based on linear relationship of the gibbs energies for studying the oxidation of ligands of some cobalt(III) complexes

Abstract: In order to appreciate the reaction mechanism in a series of oxidations of the ligands bonded in Co(III) complexes by different oxidizing agents such as IO4-, S2O8-, and H202 , the correlations based on the principle of linear relationship of the Gibbs energies were used. The results obtained for oxidation of the ions [CoCyS(en)2]+, [CoCySO(en)2]+, [Co(en)2SCH2COO]+, [Co(NH3)5NCS]2+, and [Co(dmgH)2(NCS)2]- were completed by the results concerning the oxidation of the [Co(en)2SOCH2COO]+ ion by periodate.
