Synthesis, Physical Properties, and Spectroscopy of 2,3-Quinoxalinedicarboxamide Complexes

Abstract: New complexes of the general formulae [Ln(Qxda) . Cl3 . C2H6O . H2O] (Ln = La, Pr, Y; Qxda = 2,3-quinoxalinedicarboxamide) and [Ln3(Qxda)2 . 3Cl3 . 3C2H6O . 3H2O] (Ln = Y, La) have been synthesized and characterized by elemental analyses, conductivity measurements, thermal (TG, DTG, DTA) method, and spectral (IR and UV-VIS) studies. All the data are discussed in terms of the nature of bonding and the possible structural types. It has been found that coordination takes place through both oxygen atoms of the amide group and two types of species, mononuclear and linear homopolynuclear, are formed.
