Gas Hold-Up and Power Consumption for Gas–Liquid System Agitated in a Stirred Tank Equipped with Vertical Coil

Abstract: The aim of the experimental study presented in the paper was to analyzethe mixing process in a gas–liquid system mechanically agitated in a stirredtank of inner diameter D = 0.634 m equipped with ahigh-speed impeller and tubular vertical coil (tubular baffles). The regimes ofthe dispersion of gas bubbles in the liquid, gas hold-up, and power consumptioncharacteristics were determined for varying stirrer speeds and gas flow rates.The results of the measurements were described by an empirical equation usingdimensionless quantities.
