Hydroxyfuniculosic and Funiculosic Acids, Metabolites of Penicillium vermiculatum

Abstract: Hydroxyfuniculosic and funiculosic acids were isolated as the major metabolites of Penicillium vermiculatum grown on saccharose medium. These acids together with vermistatin and (-)-mitorubrinic acid were identified in medium with glucose. Mechanism of biosynthesis of phthalaldehydic acids is discussed.
