Preparation and Characterization of Some Sugar Nitriles

Abstract: Starting from suitably O-isopropylidenated D-galactose, D-glucose, and D-mannose, several O-protected sugar nitriles useful as intermediates for further interesting carbohydrate derivatives were prepared bg dehydration of corresponding oximes or by displacement reaction of corresponding triflate derivatives. The isolated compounds were characterized by the NMR and mass spectral data.
