Abstract:

Dry reforming of methane (DRM) is one promising option for CO2 utilization to produce syngas. Searching for effective Ni-contained catalysts for the methane dry reforming is an important task for implementing the process on an industrial scale. Still, these catalysts are generally characterized by poor stability due to carbonization, which has impeded their commercialization. In this work, the effect of the dealumination of the zeolite support on the efficiency of Ni-containing catalysts based on BEA zeolite in the direct dry reforming of methane was studied. Ni-containing BEA zeolites were prepared by a conventional wet impregnation method and a two-step post-synthesis procedure. High activity and durability of NiBEA-1700 with a higher degree of dealumination of the zeolite support in the DRM process have been shown. Also, this catalyst allows simultaneous conversion of methane and reduction of CO2 excess with the formation of synthesis gas, a more valuable product for liquid fuel synthesis by the Fischer-Tropsch process.
