Evaluating the skincare benefits of sheet masks formulated with Pistacia atlantica Desf. fruits extracts and various botanical infusions

Abstract:

This study thoroughly investigates the dermatological efficacy and physicochemical stability of innovative cosmetic formulations derived from Pistacia atlantica Desf. extracts combined synergistically with botanical infusions such as rice, flaxseed, orange, pomegranate, and rose water, all known for their antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, moisturizing, and skin regenerative properties. Aqueous extracts were carefully prepared and incorporated into sheet masks and gel formulations, which were rigorously evaluated over three months for physicochemical stability, phytochemical content, and dermatological compatibility. Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy confirmed the chemical integrity of the formulations, while quantitative analyses demonstrated stable phenolic and flavonoid levels throughout the study period. Rheological assessment showed sustained viscosity, enhancing skin adhesion and application quality. X-ray fluorescence (XRF) analysis indicated a rich mineral composition, with key elements such as potassium and calcium at concentrations beneficial for skin health. In vivo evaluations demonstrated significant improvements in skin hydration, sebum regulation, elasticity, and a reduction in visible signs of skin aging. These empirical results were further supported by in silico studies, providing comprehensive insights into the safety and skin permeability of principal bioactive compounds.
