Pakistanamine, the main alkaloid from seeds of Berberis julianae Schneid

Abstract:  Pakistanamine, a proaporphine benzylisoquinoline dimeric base, has been isolated from seeds of Berberis julianae SCHNEID. (Berberidaceae) as the principal alkaloid. Berberine and jatrorrhizine, belonging to quaternary bases, were separated from seeds in a smaller amount.
