Abstract: Spectrophotometry method was .used for investigating the solubility of pyrene in aqueous solutions of bile acids Mid some their salts. The dependence of solubilized pyrene on the concentration of bile acids and their salts showed discontinual changes in solubilizing properties of solutions investigated. This is due to the step-wise micelle formation. The dependence if the solubility of pyrene on the pH of solutions was found only in the case of sodium glycocholate and sodium taurocholate. The maximum of solubility was observed in acidic pH range (sodium glycocholate at pH 4 and sodium taurocholate at pH 5). It was found, that the position of absorption maxima of pyrene in aqueous solutions of bile acids and their salts were shifted to higher wavelengths as compared to that in hexane. In these solutions (at given amounts of pyrene) the intensity of maxima is always lower than that in hexane.
